The transformative power of new habits: A roadmap to happiness and well-being

In the race of life, habits are the threads that create the pattern of our daily existence. As we stand on the brink of a new year, it's worth exploring the profound connection between the habits we cultivate and the pursuit of longevity and well-being. Our goal here is to unravel the intricacies of this relationship, offering insights into how adopting new habits (especially pro-sleep habits) can become a transformative journey toward a more joyful and fulfilling life.

I made for you a list of tools, to help you in your journey, wherever this finds you:

1. Understanding the loop of habit

Habits, whether existing or new, are a result of constant practicing. The thing about creating a new habit is that one does it much more consciously, in contrast to brushing our teeth, a habit that we adopted under our parents’ supervision. When trying to adopt a new habit, and particularly when trying to adopt pro-sleep habits, it’s important to remember that it’s a matter of practice, and practice makes perfect. Missed a day? You always have tomorrow.

2. Small changes make big impact

When it comes to the perspective of change, I always like the example of running. If you haven't ever run, and you want to start running - all you need to do is put on your training shoes and start. But if your first run is a 42.2 miles run - you’ll probably end it in a state of never-running-again, to say the least.. And if you’ll start running 5-15 minutes twice a week, and increase gradually, you’ll probably be able to run a marathon sooner than you expect.

3. Use the social dimension

Some people find sharing as a significant tool to use while trying to adopt new habits. Sharing your commitment with another person or even some, can improve your performance and increase your chances of success. If you find yourself among the ones that feel like keeping your choices to yourself - it’s completely understood, maybe write it down somewhere, commit to yourself.

4. The art of balance

Being in the mindset of change is not a one-time thing. Read it again. Once you choose to make a change, you can’t “lock” your mind from constant changing. The chances of success are better when you’re flexible, taking unknown factors into consideration, and responding accordingly to current circumstances. Balance keeps us relevant, focused, even when it feels like the other way around.

While we’re on our journey of making improvements in habits, we’re creating our own roadmap to well-being and happiness. Therefore it’s important that we keep the key tools in our minds along the way. Moreover, this article is here for you whenever you need a reminder or a boost of motivation, you’re more than welcome to come back anytime and restart your energy with us.

Wishing you a good night’s sleep
