We all know the cruel difference between having a very coherent and practical idea and the moment we actually need to start making it come true. We gathered 5 options to be your first steps when you feel like all you need is “to simple start”:
-
Write it down. Make it measurable and practical as possible.
For example: if I want to consume more vegetables in my diet I would write “have 2 salads in the next 2 days”.
- Use your calendar. Schedule reminders and events in which your change may be relevant to apply. Continuing with the same example: if I have a scheduled lunch with my colleague - I’ll schedule it for a restaurant that serves some really good salads.
-
Describe the day after. Write down a full page describing the day after you achieved your goal. How did you achieve it? How does it feel now? Who took part in your process? What helped you? What held you back?
After you’ll experience the imagination of finishing - getting it done will become much easier.
- Choose your support. Figuring out what and who should be a part of your journey is a key factor. Try to choose 1-2 people in your life who can actually contribute to your effort while walking together in the path you chose. If you have people in your life with similar goals and wishes, consider letting them in, and walk this road together.
- What can possibly go wrong? Everything! Write down the most frightening things that can go wrong along the way, acknowledge the mistakes you might make, and really connect to this moment when it feels like everything has gone to waste. Then, read it again and use this reminder: it’s still fixable, your goal is still there, the road may lead you through other paths, but you can still find your way and move on. These mistakes are part of the way, and there’s much to learn from them, too.
Remember: Nature has its way to continue through its cycle. Things change, sometimes everything changes, but the flowers bloom again, effortlessly, with zero resistance, through devotion and faith. We are also part of this nature, even though each of us has their own nature. Have faith in yourself, allow your nature to show itself.
Who knows? You might even discover some new things…
Wishing you to enjoy your journey, and a good night’s sleep
